Choose a lanyard attachment starting point
Select the carried item, access pattern and badge behavior. The result is a sourcing starting point to test with the real holder—not a substitute for a sample or an approved safety requirement.
Checks before production
A neck breakaway and a detachable lower buckle solve different requirements. Record them separately and agree any performance criterion for the actual order.

Which attachment options fit a wide custom lanyard?
A wider strap does not automatically need a larger hook. Check two connections separately: how the webbing joins the attachment, and how the hook or clip fits the badge holder. The strap width alone cannot establish either fit.
- At the strap: confirm the usable inside width of the attachment loop or buckle and the finished sewn connection. If the webbing is folded or gathered to fit, review that construction on the sample.
- At the holder: compare the hook opening and thickness with the actual slot or eyelet. Check that the hook closes fully and that the holder can hang naturally.
- For two clips: confirm two suitable holder slots and their spacing. A wide badge with one central slot needs a different connection plan; adding a second clip alone does not solve the fit.
Send a front-and-back holder photo with a ruler beside the slot, the proposed strap width and the complete carried weight. Review the assembled sample for logo direction, access and movement. Breakaway and detachable are not the same
A neck breakaway is intended to separate under tension, while a detachable front buckle allows the user to remove the carried item. A product can include one or both features, but they should be listed separately in the specification.
Ordering a staff or school ID lanyard? Compare the neck breakaway, detachable buckle and badge reel specification table before sending your RFQ. Specify the release position separately from a convenient badge-removal buckle; any required release-force evidence must be agreed for the actual order.
Check orientation before production
Install the real holder or a measured sample during approval. Confirm whether the printed logo faces outward when the attachment hangs naturally.

Send the clip reference or photo, strap width, holder slot dimensions, quantity per design, expected daily use and delivery destination. Specify the neck breakaway and detachable lower buckle separately. For a repeat order, include the approved component reference or sample: names such as “swivel hook” can describe different sizes and shapes.
